Nutrient Deficiencies in Indians?

Despite what seems like a rich local and colourful diet, a lot of Indians are unhealthy because of a deficiency of nutrients and minerals.

The real struggle is in garnering micronutrients to a diet that makes Indians vulnerable to health problems such as anaemia, bone loss, and fragile health in general.

Indians are largely deficient in iron, and women are more prone to suffer from anaemia. Proteins play an important role in strengthening our body, but 80% of Indians are deficient. It is recommended to have one gram of protein per kilo weight; hence we should all be focusing on getting different forms of protein.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble mineral that strengthens bones' skin in immunity and protects from illness. But there is a widespread deficiency in our country. Exposure to sunlight and vitamin D-rich food can cover the losses.

Studies have indicated that zinc deficiency is rising in India, which results in low immunity and an increase in the likelihood of catching diseases.
