The novel narrates the story of a Delhi boy Debashish who plays around with different girls until he meets Avantika. The Boy Who Loved
Published in 2001, ‘The Boy Who Loved’ is a story of Ragu. Raghu is an introverted boy who is drowning under the guilt of letting his best friend drown in the swimming pool in their school. The tragedy makes Raghu run away from love, affection and friendship. Despite this, he finds it hard to contain his feelings for a girl named Brahmi. This is a dark yet heart-touching novel that will move your soul and introduce you to different shades of love.
If It’s Not Forever, It’s Not Love
This one is my personal favourite and one of the best romantic novels I’ve ever read. Published in 2012, the book was written by Durjoy Datta in collaboration with Nikita Singh. The first plot narrates the story of Deb, who manages to escape a bomb blast at Chandni Chowk. Deb finds a half-burnt diary of one of the blast victims. The diary tells the story of a man’s undying love for a girl. Deb decides to find the girl mentioned in the story and takes his girlfriend Avantika and best friend Shrey along with him. The tragic story shows the lengths one can travel for love. It’s a must-read.

Now That You’re Rich
Durjoy Datta has perfectly explained how life unrolls and distances between closed ones increase with the increase in the burden of responsibilities. The book published in 2009 tells the story of four nerd friends Abhi, Garima, Saurav and Shruti. The four of them are extremely focused on their goals and think all their problems will end after getting successful. Their dreamy balloon bursts after they land up working under extremely strict and rude bosses. Life takes a turn and the closeness in the friendship converts into the distance.
Oh Yes, I’m Single
‘Oh yes I’m Single’ hit the stores in 2011. It has been co-authored by Niti Rustagi. This one is a little different from other novels by Durjoy Datta. It portrays the challenges and problems that modern-day love stories face. It is one heck of a rollercoaster ride. The novel narrates the story of a casanova who is very unpredictable and unsure about love. He is left depressed after Natasha breaks her heart. Hopes return after the return of the boy’s ex-girlfriend Manika. This is where tears start rolling. ‘True Love has a habit of coming back’ and this novel reiterates the saying.
Wish I Could Tell You
The book came out in 2010. The story starts with heartbreaks and undergoes much suspense. A girl named Anusha has been left devastated after a heartbreak. Falling in love again is not even in the last position on his future plans’ list. It is a very simply written book that could be a good started for new readers who are still figuring out what to read. It has been rated 4.5 on different platforms.
