At a height of around 4,000 metres above sea level, the captivating city is conveniently located. It is well known for having Cerro Rico Mountain. According to legend, in the sixteenth century, Spanish explorers found a significant amount of silver in the middle of a mountain, and the city was instantly overcome by silver fever. As a result, the Spaniards imported several slaves to secure enough labour.
