Another explanation for the reservoir’s name is that it is called after the Sun Temple, which once stood on the lake’s eastern shore. Feroz Shah Tughlaq, a member of the Tughlaq Dynasty, oversaw the renovation of the reservoir and the stone-and-lime-mortar reconstruction of the steps and terraces. On the western side of the reservoir, adjacent to the Sun Temple, a structure resembling a cave was also constructed.
Structure
Surajkund’s reservoir is enclosed by a steep, stepping-stone-built embankment that is fashioned like a semicircle and constructed in the shape of a rising sun. The reservoir covers a total of 99 acres and has a complete eastward arc.
Here, the rain was collected to build a repository, which in the past served as a hunting woodland resort and is today a fantastic sight. Even though the reservoir empties during the sweltering summer heat before the start of the monsoon rains, it fills up during the rainy season and is teeming with dancing peacocks.

How to reach
You may easily get to this site via auto rickshaws and taxis, which are commonly available in all areas of Delhi and Gurgaon. Moreover, regular buses run between Delhi and Faridabad. Surajkund is located 14 kilometres from the Badarpur Metro Station on the Violet Line, the closest metro station.
