The Land of Nawabs & Awadhi cuisine, Lucknow is the heaven of a complete foodie! Stroll around the city for a day or two, from kebabs to paans to biryanis, and you’ll never realize which slender alley carries you to food heaven. The taste, the scent, and the air of the town are shouting magic! While the list of delicacies is infinite, here are 11 delectable dishes you can’t ignore while you’re in Lucknow:
Kebab Galawati
A peculiar delicacy, Galawati Kebab or Galauti Kebab, was once made solely for a Nawab in Lucknow. Galawati means melting in your mouth, and that’s just what the dish does. A blend of spices is added to the dish until the finely ground beef and underripe papaya are marinated. This one needs to be high on the list to try while in Lucknow!
Boti Kabab
Tender pieces of meat heated under extreme pressure, Boti Kabab is undoubtedly not to be skipped as a finger-licking appetizer! This is a traditional recipe for Mughlai, one of many famous kababs that Lucknow has to offer.
Tunday Kebab
Kebab Sunday has a very fascinating history. Sunday means handicapped, and they earned their title because it was handicapped to the person who made them first. About 100 masalas go into creating this royal kebab, and after getting them, they make sure you don’t feel uncomfortable. They practically dissolve like ice cream in your mouth and are best eaten with rumali roti. Make sure you eat the real Tundey, as there are several copies in Lucknow, to enjoy the authentic taste.

Lucknowi Biryani
This glorious dish comes right from the lanes of Lucknow. The rice is prepared in garden-fresh seasoning separately, and later the marinated chicken is inserted. The perfect amount of flavor is infused into the dish by this approach, and the finished result is something you can not avoid.
Tokri Chaat
To add a little spice to our dullness, Chaat is undeniably the favorite Indian go-to snack. The filling leaves you happy with both your stomach and taste buds. The crisper, the stronger the tokri! Often named Basket Chaat, in the streets, Lucknow provides a number of these.
Paya Ki Nihari
Lucknowi Payal Ki Nihari Lamb Trotters Broth is a slow-cooked dish usually cooked for 6-7 hours at midnight. Nahar is an Urdu word that means morning, so the plate is generally sold as hot breakfast cakes.

Raheem’s Nihari, Chowk
The Nawabs’ brunch is a typical dish, but rather the beautifully cooked nihari and the kulcha harmonies, the most common (a form of Indian bread). Be prepared to be shocked, with all the courage and Tehzeeb preserved, by the masses that are prepared to fight their way through, only to catch a portion of the epic nihari and kulcha of Raheem. While the old folks swear by this iconic joint, the young people have also begun to fall in love with the place of Raheem, which is basically a straightforward configuration beyond the luxury of malls and the modern Ganj.
Awadh Biryani Corner
The only two shops in Awadh Biryani Corner, affectionately shortened as ABC, can be located right in the center of the busiest area of Lucknow. For a non-veg lover in the area, it is indeed like the A-B-C. It’s one of the most cost-effective biryani portions you’ll find and the most satisfying. A shami kebab roll is preferred, or a boti kabab with parathas.
Idrees
As much as they enjoy kebabs, the Nawabs adore biryani. Idrees is considered to serve the greatest mutton biryani in all of Lucknow. For many to dine in this area, the dingy layout in Old Lucknow may well be an obstacle. Still, the dedicated foodies who would go forward and give Idrees a try will understand why their biryani gets consumed in just a few minutes after the flame comes off. Order it in your car or drive it away, but don’t miss the chance to savor the Idris mutton biryani, which is cherished and richly flavored.
Sakhawat
This kebab outlet, which also serves other incredible non-vegetarian dishes, is concealed in the Bylanes of Hazratganj, near the Oudh Gymkhana. This tiny diner is renowned for keeping the most authentic, old recipes that have made Mughlai food so popular for centuries.
