Andy Frisella, an influencer and entrepreneur, founded 75 Hard. The challenge follows these guidelines for 75 days and is marketed as a programme to develop mental toughness:

Maintain a diet. any eating plan. Since Frisella is not a clinical nutritionist, dietitian, or personal trainer, he demands that you speak with an expert regarding the nutritional plan you decide on. He does, however, emphasise that you are not allowed to consume any alcohol or have any cheat meals.

Spend 45 minutes working out twice a day. There has to be an outdoor workout involved.

Every day, sip one gallon of water.

Every day, read ten pages of nonfiction. The book must be in the personal development category; audiobooks are not accepted.

Take daily photos of your progress.

You have to start over from the beginning if you break any of the five guidelines.

It seems possible, doesn’t it? Sure, for certain people. Many people already lead their lives in this manner.

There are those who adore physical challenges such as the 75 Hard. They provide you with structure and purpose and are exciting. For individuals who enjoy challenging themselves, 75 Hard has a certain allure, but that’s okay.  Let’s say you’re new to exercising or changing your way of life. If so, the benefits of the 75 Hard Challenge for developing habits might not materialise as promised. primarily as a result of your overindulgence in one endeavour.

Follow a diet

Regarding the connotations of the term “diet,” the majority of certified nutritional professionals are not fond of them, and 75 Hard leaves the diet part up to the reader’s imagination.

It remains the responsibility of the individual to plan the diet portion of the challenge, even though we strongly advise speaking with a physician.

We completely support staying hydrated, so we won’t belabour the point too much about drinking water. But this 75 Hard rule is a great illustration of how the challenge disregards each participant’s unique needs. As the founder of Barbie Boules Longevity Wellness, Barbie Boules, RDN, puts it, “four litres [a gallon] is a ridiculous amount of water.”

read Non fiction daily

This rule is great; we can’t think of anything really wrong with it. It’s ideal for establishing a habit because it’s a modest amount of reading.

It’s important to note that obtaining this daily objective can be accomplished just fine with podcasts or audiobooks. You’re not done learning yet.

Take photos

Progress pictures can be highly inspiring for certain people. They may also be equally upsetting to others. For this one, we advise using your judgement.

This 75 Hard Challenge rule is particularly noteworthy, in our opinion, as it runs counter to the assertion that the challenge is more about mental toughness than physical attractiveness. Physical body changes would not matter if the challenge was about mental wellness and improvement.

If you’re trying to build a habit of exercising consistently, throwing yourself into two 45-minute workouts a day is not the way to make that habit stick.

Even for very active people before starting 75 Hard, two long workouts a day can still be challenging to manage.

When you’re looking at a 75-day stretch, exercising that much is a good way to overdo it. The 75 Hard Challenge rules don’t mention anything about active recovery or any post-workout recovery for that matter.
