July 16th was AI Appreciation Day, and if you want to make this day special and advance your AI expertise, we have some wonderful news for you.

On World Youth Skills Day, Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Skill Development, introduced the “AI for India 2.0” project, a free artificial intelligence training course, according to a news release from PIB.

The initiative is a collaboration between Skill India and GUVI (Grab Ur Vernacular Imprint), an ed-tech business incubated at IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad to educate students in vernacular languages.

There are nine languages—including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and more—in which this Python training is available. According to GUVI, it intends to educate the younger generation on AI and ML (machine learning) for a “better tech career” in the future. This includes college students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals.

Pradhan argued that technology shouldn’t be a prisoner of language and asked for additional tech classes in Indian languages, seeing this as a positive first step in reducing the language barrier.

He continued by saying that this will aid in “future-proofing the Yuva Shakti,” particularly those in rural areas. The minister noted that India is a success story in digital payments and claimed that its citizens are technologically adept.
