The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) is getting ready to launch a new campus in Jhajjar, Haryana, very soon. The opening of the new campus was announced by Rangan Banerjee, the director of IIT Delhi. The director has stated that the new IIT Delhi campus would be finished by the end of November 2023.

Additionally, Banerjee said that the official academic calendar at the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus will begin in 2024. “We still require both internal and external approvals. In both India and the UAE, we use several admissions procedures. We are attempting to combine the two. In a news conference, he stated, “Our goal is to have varied classrooms.

In July, as part of the ‘IITs Go Global’ initiative, IIT Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the creation of the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi. After IIT Madras Zanzibar, this will be the second foreign IIT campus.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) plans to establish additional campuses in Sonipat and Jhajjar in the state of Haryana to increase its visibility and intellectual reach. The Jhajjar facility won’t be operational for another 3–4 years, but the Sonipat campus is anticipated to be completed by November 2023.

IIT-D director Dr. Rangan Banerjee discussed the institute’s entry into drug development in conjunction with AIIMS, Jhajjar during a press conference on Thursday. The Haryana Chief Minister and other state government representatives had heard the faculty members’ suggestions for campus development and approved them.

The healthcare industry, especially cancer treatment and drug development, will receive a lot of attention at the Jhajjar site. It will be a patient-specific institute that is unique to the nation. It intends to concentrate on creating medications for cancer treatments, and medical implants, and improving Paralympians’ performance. Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is based on cutting-edge technology, will also be utilized for disease detection, according to Dr. Banerjee. 

 

Medical professionals and industry experts will discuss the MedTech and Healthcare Ecosystem for the planned Jhajjar campus at a session held by IIT-D on August 14. To maintain the research and academic partnership under the mutually agreed-upon terms and conditions, the current Memorandum of Understanding between AIIMS and IIT-D will also be extended.  

Numerous engineering students benefited from the NEP 2020’s flexible possibilities. “A few students chose the Multiple Entry and Exit System (MEES), which is one of the main components of the National Education Policy 2020. A few students chose certificates rather than a four-year BTech degree since they graduated earlier, according to Prof. Narayanan D. Karur.

The revised curriculum for various courses, which will be implemented after convocation, is also being reviewed by the Institute. According to Prof. Karur, a group made up of faculty members was established to create a new curriculum that incorporates sustainability. “Our current curriculum already includes interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary components, which will be enhanced even further. We provide our pupils the opportunity to broaden their minds and develop new talents in other academic areas, he continued.
