How can one miss the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary while being in the Yumthang Valley? The Yumthang Valley is famous for its Rhododendrons. It does not have a glimpse of them in Yumthang Valley is not at all justified. The Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary is a major attraction of tourists in Yumthang Valley. The sanctuary allows you to witness around 40 species of Rhododendron trees and plants. The place is the perfect treat to the eyes and offers a pleasant and soothing atmosphere all around.

Being in Yumthang valley, it is not justified not to spend some quality time near Yumthang Chu. Yumthang Chu is a river that comes across you when you visit the Yumthang Valley. The town of Chungthang can be encountered on the way to Yumthang Valley. The town is considered a sacred town by the locals. There is a belief that the town is blessed by a renowned Buddhist saint Guru Padmasambhava. As per the legends, the rock on which the Guru Padmasambhava sat once still holds its footprints. Besides this, there is a small black hole in the rock that spouts water all as well. The production of the paddy crop in the region is also believed to be a miracle and a blessing by the saint.

How can one miss the local food in Yumthang Valley? As the traditional Himalayan cuisines of the Himalayas like rice and momos. These are the everyday delicacies of the Sikkim and are super delicious and can be easily available in the Valley. So do give them a try! However, the Valley does not support a great variety of food, but there is no need to get disappointed.

If you wish to witness the snow-capped mountains, you can plan your trip from September to December.
