According to Education Minister Pradhan, the portal is driven by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and demonstrates the government’s commitment to making India a ‘preferred education location as well as to blur academic boundaries for crafting a successful future’.

The government unveiled the Study In India (SII) platform on Thursday, which would provide a unified one-stop solution for enrollment of students and visa applications.

The portal was introduced by union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and union external affairs minister S Jaishankar to make India a global center for education by embracing students from various backgrounds.

In addition, Jaishankar said that by addressing the audience, the portal will help the country develop a powerful international brand for India in the sector of education.

“I take note of the portal’s integrated design, which makes it possible for overseas students to apply in a user-friendly manner from registration to visa acceptance. This streamlines [their] entire process, making it easier for them to select their preferred courses and receive offers from pertinent universities, he said.

The presence of overseas students, he continued, will also benefit domestic students by bringing them closer to a globalized environment and better preparing them for a global workplace.

It will better prepare students for the global job by bringing the globalizing world closer to them. According to the external affairs minister, learning alongside pupils from other countries can help you better comprehend other cultures, habits, traditions, and even ways of thinking.

“Such students truly become ambassadors of goodwill for India when they return to their societies of origin, sometimes even more so,” he continued.

According to Education Minister Pradhan, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 acts as the portal’s guiding principle and exemplifies the government’s dedication to making India a popular study destination and erasing academic boundaries for the creation of a successful future.

Study In India Portal will play a crucial role in making India an increasingly popular choice for higher education among students worldwide, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s objective of making education transcend geopolitical boundaries, Pradhan added.

The Study in India or SII program is a flagship initiative that the education ministry introduced in 2018 to endorse India as a leading education hub for foreign students by encouraging them to pursue higher education there and exploring beneficial educational opportunities made possible by top Indian universities.

The portal is a specialized website, according to the education ministry, that would offer thorough information about Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

According to a statement from the government, the website will display academic programs including but not restricted to undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral level programs as well as courses in the Indian Knowledge System like yoga, ayurveda, classical arts, etc.

It will also provide information about academic facilities, research support, and various other related topics.
