According to Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Monday, the Delhi government has decided to reimpose the ban on the production, sale, storage, and use of all types of firecrackers in the capital as part of an action plan to lower pollution levels in the winter.
He said the Delhi Police will be given strong instructions to enforce the ban in the city while speaking at a news conference here.
The effort is part of a plan to reduce pollution throughout the winter. Gopal Rai, the minister of the environment, stated that the Delhi Police will be given strong instructions to enforce the ban in the city.
For the past three years, the Delhi government has followed a policy of outlawing all firecrackers. “Over the previous five to six years, Delhi’s air quality has significantly improved, but there is still room for improvement. So, this year again, we have decided to prohibit firecrackers,” Rai stated.

The administration had previously said that setting off fireworks on Diwali in the city would result in a prison sentence of up to six months and a fine of Rs 200. It had said that Section 9B of the Explosives Act’s penalties for the manufacture, sale, and storage of fireworks in Delhi included a fine of up to 5,000 rupees and three years in prison.

The administration had previously said that setting off fireworks on Diwali in the city would result in a prison sentence of up to six months and a fine of Rs 200.
It stated that violating Section 9B of the Explosives Act might result in a punishment of up to 5,000 rupees and three years in prison for anyone who produce, store, or sell fireworks in Delhi.
