The software will be integrated with DigiLocker and Aadhaar to produce digitally signed CVs for job candidates and course participants as well as offer verifiable certificates of course completion.
The software would aid in both the distribution of skill-building courses and the use of online matching to connect potential employers and employees.
The Skill India Digital app, which combines listings for upskilling courses and job advertisements, was formally launched by the Centre on Wednesday. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, announced the app at the Budget session of Parliament in February. It was soft-released in April.
The software will be integrated with DigiLocker and Aadhaar to produce digitally signed CVs for job candidates and course participants as well as offer verifiable certificates of course completion.
The National Career Service, a five-year project launched by the government in 2015 for job-seekers, the Udyam portal for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise registration, the eShram portal created to build a National Database of Unorganised Workers, and the ASEEM job directory are all connected to Skill India Digital.
According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & Information Technology, “When we talk about digital skills, there are two components to this discourse: one is skills for the digital domain,… and the other question is how do you skill digitally.”
According to Mr. Chandrasekhar, the app would aid in both the distribution of skill-building courses and the use of online matching to connect potential employers and employees.
The National Skill Development Corporation created the app.

Atul Kumar Tiwari, the Union Secretary for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “I daresay [Skill India Digital] can also become the ONDC of skilling.” He was referring to the Open Network for Digital Commerce. This government-backed network is being promoted as an interoperable e-commerce network that could compete with major platforms in e-retail and food delivery, among other areas.
The comparison was approved by Mr. Chandrasekhar. “The marketplace, the platform where all those who are interested — commercial or non-commercial stakeholders — can come together, plug in, deliver skills, gain skills, look for employment, and offer employment,” Mr. Chandrasekhar said of Skill India Digital. Therefore, this is unquestionably a strong idea and platform in its initial iteration.
