Harry Potter’s cast established one of the biggest franchises of all time. Notably, all of the Harry Potter cast members remained for the duration of the series. Here is a list of all Harry Potter cast members and where the series’ greatest stars are currently.

The only prominent actor who had to be replaced was Richard Harris. He died shortly after Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. From Prisoner of Azkaban onwards, he was replaced by Michael Gambon.

Here are the Main Harry Potter Cast, and What are they doing Now

1. Albus Dumbledore – Richard Harris and Micheal Gambon

albus dumbeldore

Every great hero requires the guidance of a knowledgeable mentor. Yoda was Yoda to Luke Skywalker, Gandalf to Frodo Baggins, and Albus Dumbledore to Harry Potter. Dumbledore, widely regarded as the most powerful wizard of his time, was the headmaster of Hogwarts and the only wizard Lord Voldemort feared. Although we initially encounter Dumbledore as an older, intelligent, and compassionate man, he has a terrible background that he is terribly ashamed of. Dumbledore was lured by power as a young man, which led to his younger sister, Ariana. Regrettably, Dumbledore halted his quest for power and confined himself to Hogwarts, where he could escape Wizarding politics and focus on creating future witches and wizards.

Harry Potter – Daniel Radcliffe

Of course, no discussion of our favorite Wizarding World characters would be complete without including the Boy Who Lived himself, Harry Potter. Harry Potter, who was raised (more like tortured) by his Muggle aunt and uncle, is famed in the Wizarding World for defeating Lord Voldemort on multiple occasions. Harry, also known as the Boy Who Lived or the Chosen One by witches and wizards worldwide, is an incredibly brave, devoted, and gifted young wizard willing to risk everything to do the right thing and save the people he cares about.’

3. Severus Snape- Alan Rickman

Severus snape

Few characters in popular culture divide fans more than Severus Snape. Snape, the frequently sardonic and nasty potions instructor, is undoubtedly the most complex character in J.K. Rowling’s world, and he remains a bit of a puzzle even after all these years. Despite his prior loyalty to Lord Voldemort, Snape is now a revered Hogwarts professor, a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and possibly Dumbledore’s most trusted ally. We’re still not clear why he did the right thing (was it all for Lilly? ), but what matters is that he gave everything to assist Harry to destroy Voldemort when it came down to it.

4. Voldemort – Ralph Fiennes

While Lord Voldemort isn’t a particularly layered villain (there are no shades of grey here), it’s tough to dispute that he’s one of the most fascinating, horrifying, and menacing books/movie villains of all time. Lord Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard to ever walk the planet, is so feared by the Wizarding community (even his own followers) that even after his death, witches and wizards around the world are scared to even mention his name.

5. Hermione Granger- Emma Watson

hermoine granger

Hermione Granger is without a doubt the brightest witch of her generation! While she may have begun as an arrogant know-it-all and a goody-two-shoes, Hermione quickly establishes herself as one of the series’ most accessible and endearing characters. She always tries to obey the rules but is willing to disobey them if absolutely necessary. Whereas Harry and Ron can be boisterous and impulsive, Hermione is the group’s brains and frequently uses her intelligence to keep the trio safe. At the end of this trip, one thing becomes very clear: Harry, Ron, and the entire Wizarding World would not have survived without Hermione.

6. Ron Weasley- Rupert Grint

While he is sometimes reduced to the role of a sidekick, Ron Weasley is much more than just Harry Potter’s best buddy. Ron Weasley has always felt overshadowed by his siblings and friends, despite being the youngest son of Molly and Arthur Weasley and the best friend of the famous Harry Potter. He lacks Harry’s bravery and Hermione’s brilliance. Still, Ron is a loyal wizard who is always willing to confront his many anxieties to help his friends. He played an important role in Voldemort’s downfall.

7. Sirius Black – Gary Oldman

sirius black

Nothing inspires more than a man born into darkness who chooses to live in the light. Sirius Black is one of the most endearing and fascinating characters in the Wizarding World. Sirius was the first member of his family to be sorted into Gryffindor rather than Slytherin, despite being born into a pure-blood family who detested muggles and half-bloods. Sirius was a strong-willed, devoted, and eternally sympathetic guy willing to sacrifice his family and finally offer his life to fight for what he believed in. He was James Potter’s closest friend and Harry’s godfather.

8. Hagrid- Robbie Coltrane

hagrid

He may not be the most powerful or cool character in the series, but Hagrid is the most caring and pleasant man in the Wizarding World. Hagrid loved Harry more than any other person on this list and was likely the closest thing he had to a father. He was the one who picked Harry up from the Dursleys, he was always there at Harry’s Quidditch matches, and when Harry “killed” at the hands of Voldemort, Hagrid was the one who took his body back to the castle.

9. Minerva McGonagall- Maggi Smith

Mcgonagall

Minerva McGonagall, the head of Gryffindor House, is Harry’s harshest instructor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She’s intimidating and tough, yet she’s always fair, even when it comes to deducting points from her own house. McGonagall is one of the most caring and sympathetic characters in the books when it comes down to it. In the struggle against Voldemort, she is one of the most powerful and formidable witches safeguarding Hogwarts and its students.
