When a huge burial site with more than thirty tombs was uncovered here in 1996, the Bahariya Oasis shot to fame. There were about 250 “Golden Mummies” at the location, all from different eras of human history. The area is also where you may find the ruins and remnants of the Temple of Alexander. In addition to being a mummy burial place, Bahariya is well recognized for its wine production and acts as an important agricultural center for Egypt.
