Finally, there is a piece of good news for all the Kannada fans as One Cut Two Cut has finally got released digitally on the OTT platform of Amazon Prime. And to save your time we have come up with an honest review of it. So, let’s find out what One Cut Two Cut has planned for its viewers!
One Cut Two Cut- Plot
The film ‘One Cut Two Cut’ tells the story of Gopi, an innocent arts and crafts teacher, and his encounter with a not-so-scary squad of kidnappers on a mission. The comedy hostage drama had a sarcastic undertone, as it attempted to explore the “cause with a rebel” mentality, but with a comedic framework. Despite the fact that it is a digital release, the film’s background score and soundtrack are given a lot of attention.

Danish Sait was born to be a comedy. We recently saw him as a vain cheesy immoral politician in Applause Entertainment’s political satire Humble Politician Nograj. In this sporadically amusing satire film, Sait plays Gopi, an arts and crafts instructor at a decrepit school where all of the pupils have congregated in one classroom due to a lack of Covid. Sait’s hilarity is positioned comfortably in this limited place. Without the plot and characters going all over the place, he can be as humorous as he wants.
The means and objectives of One Cut Two Cut are relatively modest. It has no actual purpose other than to amuse us. It does this on occasion, but not frequently enough. The script (by Sait and writer/director Vamsidhar Bhogaraju) is satirical at moments but pathetically banal at others. The film’s major flaw is its inconsistency, which stems from a lack of funding more than a lack of originality.
The picture is most amusing when the wit is caustic. Running humor about a protester’s hatred of all things Amitabh Bachchan is actually entertaining. In reality, Mr Bachchan plays a significant role in the scream. And Prakash Belawadi, who can’t get enough of Amitabh Bachchan for some perceived affront, is a hoot as a protestor who, with his cronies, takes a class of obtuse pupils and educators hostage.
Rather than covering a protest march, a young female journalist is dispatched to the CM’s residence to feature the CM’s daughter performing the hoola hoopla. The issue is straightforward. The entire comedy is dependent on one man’s ability to keep the audience’s attention. Apart from Sait, the rest of the characters are entirely functional, barely managing to keep their position in the plot when the storytelling edges become too slick to hold on to.
There’s also a subplot about Gopi being rejected by a prospective bride’s parents, and the bride (Sanyuka Hornad) showing up as a teacher in the classroom. The romance track is complemented by some cheesy music, further sinking the show into a cheap thrill pit.

Danish Sait’s pidgin English is a hoot, which is fortunate for the picture. I could close my eyes and hear this glib talker fly away on the wings of a wild word-trek. I wasn’t sure whether I was laughing with or laughing at this homage to silliness by the time the hostage issue was handled, with the CM’s intervention(no less).
When it comes to the film’s set, director Vamsidhar Bhogaraju has strived to pay close attention to every aspect. There are thrilling moments in the film as well, although they are seldom. The opening of the film, particularly Sait’s introduction, looks promising. One has an immediate soft place for the arts and crafts teacher about to begin his first day at a school. The audience is not given enough time to identify with Gopi’s character due to the fast changes in frames and introduction of other characters.
Samyukta Hornad plays a teacher at the same school and does a fantastic job in her role. Prakash Belawadi plays Pruthviraj, the film’s ‘antagonist,’ and is without a doubt the film’s dazzling star. His disdain for Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is both irritating and amusing. His personality frustrates you, yet you also feel sorry for him.
All of the primary and supporting characters in the film have provided excellent performances. The story is engrossing at times and can be consumed in a single sitting. The characteristics of Sait and Belwandi are well-defined. They do a good job of playing their parts and eliciting emotions from you as you watch them. Despite the fact that the picture is not an action film, the film’s background score unexpectedly establishes the tone. It has clearly received a lot of attention to detail.
The film has its strong spots, including thrills that the viewer can enjoy. The film is not entirely in Kannada, making it easier to comprehend for a global audience. There are a few references to other films and actors that make the film more interesting.
