For some reason, Alma and another female character in Dark Desire season 2 bounce off each other’s madness and convince each other that no woman who has ever loved Dario has ever come out with all of her marbles. They make it seem like Dario is some sort of magical love god who whips his things around and makes ladies fall at his feet. It’s strange, but the series makes it clear that Dario “eats” women in the same way that I eat Cheetos.
It’s very odd. The twists keep coming — someone’s death sparks another inquiry, and of course, the same suspects are involved. Is Dario a complete sociopath, or is there an impostor out there? It goes round and round indefinitely and is quite entertaining in a pitiful and irritating manner. In any case, Alma will grate on your nerves this time. It’s very odd. If nothing else, I believe it effectively depicts poisonous relationships.
The narrative of the second season picks up just where the first season leaves off. Alma, who is currently staying at her parents’ house, seeks to regain control of her life. Her position at the university has been lost, her marriage to Leonardo has ended in divorce, and she is alienated from her daughter Zoe.
She pines for Darrio and sees him everywhere, and his thoughts torment Alma in her dreams. She enrolls in a therapy season with a group of women, where she meets Lys, a mystery middle-aged woman with a secret of her own.
Darrio comes to Mexico with his newly obtained wealth to marry Julieta, his true love. But his rekindled affair with Alma eventually flips their worlds upside down.
As secrets from Darrio’s history emerge, sad events lead to the murder of his girlfriend Julieta. Alma must now decide whether to envisage a future with Darrio, as she has always desired, or to face the reality and do the right thing.
Inspector Montano, her ex-husband Leanardo, daughter Zoe, and ex-brother-in-law Esteban are all there to aid her every step of the way this time.
The second season, like its predecessor, is not afraid to reveal a lot of sensual moments while leaving a lot to the imagination. The police play an important role in the plot as Alma pursues vengeance, meticulously creating a trap for the deceptive Darrio to fall into.
The choice by Netflix to declare Dark Desire season 2 is the final one is fair. The narrative of the series does not have much to offer except from a fast-paced plot, several sensual scenes, and keeping the mystery intact.
The narrative of Dark Desire season 2 wastes time by introducing new people in flashbacks to establish Darrio’s doppelganger’s past. Even when Alma finally flips the script, the ending is fairly foreseeable.
Apart from the compelling performances by Maite Perroni and Alejandro Speitzer, the magnificent cinematography and background soundtracks help keep the drama’s tension alive. For this sophisticated sensual thriller, fifteen episodes seems like a long time.
