Rangeela is one of the classics from that era, and it has to be one of Aamir’s best. The Ram Gopal Verma directed film is a romantic drama featuring Aamir and Urmila Matondkar. Aamir falls in love with Urmila but feels that she is out of his league after becoming an actress. Rangeela was released in 1995.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam:

There was a time when Salman Khan was the angry young man of Bollywood. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is one of the best romantic dramas of Bollywood. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film features Salman Khan as Sameer and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini. Sameer and Nandini are in love with each other, but Nandini is married to Vanraj (Ajay Devgan) by her parents. This is an epic love story with some of the finest Hindi songs. The film was released in 1999.

This one needs no introduction. The film has gained massive success and praise not only in India but across the world. Starring Shahrukh Khan as Raj and Kajol as Simran, the epic love story has many records to its name, including the longest-running movie in the theatre. The film is also remembered for the memorable role of Amrish Puri as Simran’s father. The final train scene is etched in our hearts forever. It came out in 1995.

The ’90s was when Bollywood had not one but two angry young men- Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Vaastav is one of the most iconic films of Sanju Baba. The film covers the journey of Raghu, who transforms from a normal youth to an underworld don. It is one of the finest performances by Sanju Baba to date. The film is said to be based on Mumbai underworld gangster Chota Rajan. The film first hit the screens in 1999.

There’s a special place for patriotic films in the hearts of 90’s kids. The film is based on a fragment of the 1971 Indo-Pak war and came out in 1997. The lead character of Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri is played by Sunny Deol. The movie featured several other stars, including Sunil Shetty, Akshay Khanna, and Jacky Shroff. It is considered the best patriotic film made by Bollywood to date. The song “Sandese aate hain” from the movie is immortal in our hearts.

Made under the Yash Chopra banner, Lamhe is a romantic drama film that came out in 1991. The film featured Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla as love interests who challenged the stereotype of a wide age gap between a couple. The unconventional romantic drama is a must-watch. We certainly can’t complete a list of movies from the ’90s without an Anil Kapoor film.

Andaz Apna Apna:

Andaz Apna Apna is considered as one of the finest movies on Indian cinema. The cult classic comedy from 1994 features Salman Khan as Prem and Aamir Khan as Amar. Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor play the love interests of Amar and Prem. Shakti Kapoor’s appearance as Crime Master Gogo is also a major reason behind the film’s popularity. The film also features Paresh Raval, Deven Verma, and Viju Khote.
