It is never simple to move on after a recent split, and Yumi’s Cells 2‘s opening episode continues off right where the first season left off in terms of that emotionally draining breakup sensation.
In Season 1, Yumi (Kim Go Eun) and Gu Wung (Ahn Bo Hyun) were going through a split when Yumi’s Cells left us. Yumi’s Cells 2 sharpens Yumi’s jumbled emotions, but Yoo Ba Bi is now the prospective love interest.
Actors Kim Go-Eun and Jinyoung discuss Yumi’s Cells season 2, the likelihood of a third installment, and why they hope more “cells” will be awakened.
After the traumatic breakup in season 1, Kim Yumi is back, her shattered heart on the mend, and her “thought-cells” refreshed as they retrace the familiar yet unforeseen path of love.
The drama, which expertly combined live-action and 3D animation, won praise for its ability to depict the life of a typical office worker, Yumi, from the perspective of her brain cells, which are represented by several blue unitard-clad Smurf-like creatures and are responsible for all of her thoughts, actions, and behavior.
Kim Go-Eun (Goblin, The King: Eternal Monarch), Ahn Bo-Hyun (Military Prosecutor Doberman), and Jinyoung of GOT7 star in Lee Sang-(Shopaholic Yeob’s King Louis) adaptation of the well-known webtoon Yumi’s Cells, which has 512 episodes and 3.2 billion views over five and a half years.
In an exclusive interview with the Weekend, Kim Go-Eun, 31, says, “I felt comfortable returning as Yumi in season 2.” Despite the disparities in our personalities and circumstances, the fact that we were at a comparable stage of life in terms of age was relatable.
She continues by saying that the character’s banality appealed to her. “She is a typical female who breaks up with her partner and attempts to move on. She meets a new person as she recovers from her heartbreak. This drama’s “living the average, mundane life” theme appeals to the viewers as well.
Emotional connect
In the second installment, singer and actor Jinyoung play Yumi’s enchanting and astute coworker and love interest, Yoo Ba-bi. He acknowledges that he was drawn to the character arc of Ba-bi and the inevitable change in opinion as the series progresses. He was most recently seen in thrillers like The Devil Judge and Yaksha: Ruthless Operations.
“I liked the idea that Ba-bi was just another character in Yumi’s continuously changing existence. I was intrigued by the numerous shifts he goes through, says Jinyoung. As Yumi’s emotional defenses are breached by Ba-honest bi’s personality, their connection on screen is palpable. The actor acknowledges that he has studied and imitated the mannerisms of those in the marketing industry. I adopted behaviors and drew from them.
This young celebrity, who views music as his diary of emotions and acting as a tool to transmit emotions, finds it effortless to juggle two occupations. “My work schedule was carefully arranged, so I have plenty of time to get ready for the various things I want to accomplish.
I was fortunate that my singing and acting schedules did not conflict, which allowed me to concentrate on one activity at a time. He is currently working on the thriller Christmas Carol, which will be his next film after GOT7’s eagerly anticipated return with the single “Nanana” in May of this year.

“My point of reference for understanding the character is the written script.” I then adopt the character’s characteristics following the overall plot’s progression and anticipate the decisions they would make in the scenarios, she continues.
