Wanda opens the door at the end of WandaVision’s fifth episode. She is surprised by an incredibly shocking cameo that is a big deal for MCU Phase 4.
Marvel’s WandaVision episode 5 concludes with a colossal cameo, and it has some significant consequences for the MCU’s future. Just as Vision asked Wanda about what she and the town of Westview were doing to him, someone rang their buzzer. Wanda is stunned and amazed to see a man pretending to be her brother Pietro, otherwise referred to as Quicksilver, answering the bell.
This is not only a surprise, though, since Pietro Maximoff is meant to be deceased, but this is not an acknowledgment of Pietro Wanda. It’s not the same actor shown in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Evan Peters is banging on the door as Pietro instead of star Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing Quicksilver in this episode of WandaVision. Behaving like everything should be natural, having turned up to surprise his sibling after having been away for some time.
Although this may be confounding for some fans (even Darcy Lewis of SWORD is puzzled as to why Wanda change her brother), there is a reason. It is enormously vital: since he played Quicksilver in FOX’s X-Men films and separate Marvel mutant universe, Evan Peters plays this new Pietro. Here’s a rundown and clarification of both Quicksilver versions, why Pietro’s X-Men version was introduced to Westview instead of the one Wanda learns. This means for the remainder of the series and the future of the MCU going ahead.
Explained Various Marvel Quicksilvers
Two separate live-action iterations of Marvel’s Quicksilver were released and portrayed on film within a year between 2014 and 2015. One was introduced by actor Evan Peters in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, while the other made its first and only debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron, played by actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson in 2015. Owing to Quicksilver’s dual role and the Scarlet Witch as Marvel Comics’ Avengers and X-Men heroes, their film rights were divided between Disney and Fox, however (though Disney now owns the rights to the X-Men as of 2019).
The FOX version of Pietro was known as a mutant, who ultimately joined the talented and X-Men squad of Charles Xavier’s academy and was also actually the villain Magneto’s son. On the other hand, Quicksilver of the MCU and his sister Wanda were Sokovians who lost their parents. They experimented on by Hydra, who triggered their powers with the Mind Stone, looking to be inspired to fight for their country (the same stone that brought Vision to life).
Although Pietro and Wanda initially teamed up with Ultron to take vengeance on Iron Man, they soon discovered his true intentions to destroy all life on Earth and easily defected, calling themselves Avengers. However, the Quicksilver of Aaron Taylor-Johnson would end up giving his life to fighting Ultron, making the Avengers sequel his only MCU presence. Simultaneously, Scarlet Witch would continue to have numerous MCU appearances, namely her title character in WandaVision of Marvel.
Why Wanda Took the X-Men’s Quicksilver To Westview
As mentioned earlier, at the beginning of the last episode of WandaVision, Wanda seems to be surprised, suggesting that it was not her plan to bring Pietro back at all, let alone a Pietro she is unacquainted with. Nevertheless, previous episodes (including this one) had referenced Wanda’s brother. As when Wanda mentioned that Geraldine/Captain Monica Rambeau had a brother or spoke about Pietro to her sons Tommy and Billy. She tells them that he was only “far away from here” instead of showing her children that he had died.
In comparison, Episode 5 reflects quite a bit on death and regeneration, which may say why the Pietro of Evan Peters was taken to Westview and not Wanda’s own brother. They ask Wanda to put him back to life when Billy and Tommy’s dog Sparky dies. Wanda reveals, however, that she can’t. Although the effects of SWORD have prompted them to conclude that Wanda took the remains of Vision and resurrected him, this is presumably because he is not human and is simply a synthezoid. When it comes to the living, resurrection seems to be a barrier to Wanda’s strength.
Wanda’s own subconscious and current feelings about Pietro appear likely to be what got her brother to Westview. However, she may have unintentionally taken the X-Men universe’s Pietro to Westview instead because of his death and her failure to carry him back to life, possibly dragging him from across the Multiverse.
Could also be the doing of Dr. Strange, to control this universe and all the multiverses. In WandaVision The Sorcerer Supreme wants to keep Wanda at ease, so he asks or brings X-Men Peter as Pietro to Wanda
For the development of WandaVision and the MCU, what this means.
It is as yet uncertain as to what the arrival of this other Pietro means for the remainder of WandaVision. In appearance and attitude, Pietro looked not unlike Fonzie from Happier Days, suggesting that, much like everybody else, he was assimilated into the town of Westview.
He probably doesn’t remember who he is at the moment and where he comes from, only knowing that he’s Wanda’s long-lost brother who went to the city for a visit.
As far as the long term is affected with Phase 4 of the MCU and forward, this seems as though it might be the first official proof that the Multiverse really occurs in the MCU (after all, Spider-Man: Far From Homes’s Mysterio ended up telling the truth). Besides, it has long been claimed that WandaVision would lead straight into Doctor Strange and the Madness Multiverse. Expanding the exploration of the MCU into the Multiverse.
As such, it seems like this latest Quicksilver may be a significant reason why this series and the forthcoming Doctor Strange movie will be so connected. If Wanda could move people from around the Multiverse – as is the implication with Pietro – her abilities would be off the charts. They could also trigger some significant real issues that would certainly need the intervention and help of the Sorcerer Supreme.
Besides, Marvel Studios now has the rights to the X-Men franchise. The Quicksilver appearance of Evan Peters in WandaVision may be the ideal bridge to eventually bring the notion of mutants and the X-Men to the MCU at large.
We can also conclude that The X-Men Quicksilver could be sent by Dr. Strange to control the Multiverse and not for Wanda’s aid in Wandavision. He tried to call the Quicksilver from X-Men and sent Peter as Pietro.
Most theories that we put here are proven to be accurate, WandaVision: Vision’s Crazy Love Past and Scarlet Witch
How come that Agnes, the character of Kathryn Hahn, is so mindful of what’s going on when everyone else is so repressed?
Agnes appeared to be aware that she was doing a scene, asking Wanda if she could rerun it. Meaning that she was interested in the pocket truth that Wanda concocted somehow. Agnes also refers to herself as “Auntie Agnes”-maaaaaybe a plausible hint, based on one plotline in a comic book, that she’s actually someone else. Is she something even Wanda doesn’t know? Is she a much more villainous character than Hayward?
In the end, we also see Wanda changing the CBMR for no more penetration, and there were so many things we overlooked. “Lack of children in Westview,” “Is Vision really alive?” What is technically happening and, and who is in control of Westview?
We still need some more back story on this. And more things need to be revealed.
Things are still to unfold in the coming episode of WandaVision. While this is all speculation and hypothesis, it seems very possible to consider all things. In either event, as Marvel’s WandaVision progresses on Disney Plus, viewers will no doubt discover more.
