The online event DC FanDome 2021 unveiled a flood of information, previews, and trailers for all the most anticipated DC Comics film adaptations.

The DC FanDome 2021 event included several updates, sneak peeks, and previews for forthcoming DC Comics films. The first DC FanDome event in 2020 was born out of necessity, with DC Comics and Warner Bros. wanting to release all the teaser material they had prepared but could not do so because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused all the major fandom fairs, such as San Diego Comic-Con, to be shut down or delayed. This resulted in the establishment of the FanDome virtual area and a gold-standard digital event devoted to DC Comics, which was so popular that it was made it an annual event.

While the film trailers are the most expected aspect of DC FanDome, the event is about much more than movies. DC FanDome encompasses the entire fandom experience, presenting news about all media based on DC Comics’ cosmos. This encompasses live-action and animated television programs, radio dramas, video games, and, of course, comic books and graphic novels.

Despite this, DCEU film footage and trailers continue to be the most popular draws at the DC FanDome. The inaugural DC FanDome event in 2020 established a gold standard for virtual events that will be difficult to achieve in the event’s sophomore excursion. However, few expected the inaugural DC Fandome to be such a spectacular success, and there is no reason to assume that the 2021 FanDome event will not equal or surpass the original. The following selection should provide even the most discerning DC Comics fans with a welcome taste of shivers, thrills, cheers, and hope; all of which are synonymous with DC Comics.

The live-action movies that will shock you…

Black Adam

The most prominent reveal was the first Live Action scene of Black Adam, and fan favorite cast of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the Black Adam.

The first teaser trailer for Black Adam was allegedly based on the first scene shot for the film by Dwayne Johnson. It also is Black Adam’s debut scene in the film, with the ancient anti-hero making an exciting arrival. The teaser trailer also showed the film’s versions of Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher for the first time (Noah Centineo). Black Adam will hit cinemas on July 29, 2022, next summer.

The Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Unfortunately for Aquaman fans, there was no footage from the long-awaited sequel in the DC FanDome 2021 part devoted to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Instead, the Aquaman 2 teaser trailer displayed some of the film’s concept of art, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of some of the stunt sequences. Jason Momoa vowed that the new picture will be “a glorious adventure, like the previous time, but better,” while director James Wan said that viewers should expect a plot that was “more mature” and complex than a typical superhero film. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit cinemas on December 16, 2022.

The Batman

The DC FanDome is famous to make fans crazy with amazing reveals, and yet this reveal is the most awaited one.

The first trailer for The Batman was unveiled during DC FanDome 2020, and it quickly captivated Bat-fans all across the world, giving them their first look at Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight Detective. The second teaser for The Batman was much more revealing, showing the first glimpse at The Riddler (Paul Dano), Catwoman (Zo Kravitz), The Penguin (Colin Farrell), and Alfred Pennyworth (Ben Affleck) (Andy Serkis). This video features a lot of Easter eggs linked to the comics for fans to contemplate while they await the debut of The Batman on March 4, 2022.

The series surely takes a look at a younger Batman, and bring a whole lot of new villians and plot. There is a small expectations that this Batman and Joaquin’s joker is interlinked, but we cannot say much about it…

The Flash

The first teaser trailer for The Flash movie verified speculations that the plot is partly modeled on the comic book tale flash point, with The Fastest Man Alive damaging the chronology after attempting to rewrite his own history. In one brief scene, Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) collaborates with an alternate world version of himself. The footage also verifies at least one version of Batman, but which Batman is unknown.

As with the Batman trailer, there is a slew of Flash Easter eggs for eager fans to go through. We can see the creators have created the storyline similar to that of the iconic flash point Paradox. Barry did saved his mom, created flash point, but here story revolves around something else. People are still confused, whether we will see Bruce Wayne or Thomas Wayne for Batman. The trailer surely has enticed the hearts of all fans.

The brief section featured some of the series’ concept art, which revealed that Batgirl’s outfit in the show will have a complete cowl and Barbara’s characteristic red hair.

Grace also discussed her physical preparation for the part, as well as how refreshing it was to “read for a female heroine with guts.” There is no set release date for the Batgirl film, although it is scheduled to arrive on HBO Max in late 2022.

Blue Beetle

The brief part included director Angel Manuel Soto, author Gareth Dunet-Alcocer, and actor Xolo Mariduea as Jaime Reyes. The three claimed that the film would stay faithful to the original comics’ Latin American origins, and that it will be entertaining and hilarious, but also emotionally engaging and action-packed. There was no video footage available, however, the episode did feature concept drawings of Jaime’s Blue Beetle armor.

For years, Hollywood has been buzzing about a live-action film based on the Milestone Comics character Static (best known for his animated series Static Shock). However, Milestone Comics co-founder Denys Cowan and producer Reggie Hudlin stated in the Milestone portion of DC FanDome that Michael B. Jordan was developing a Static film as part of a joint venture between his production company, Outlier Society, and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Randy McKinnon, the author of Grand Army and the forthcoming remake of The Lost Boys, is writing the screenplay.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods

Asher Angel and Zachary Levi returned to FanDome to premiere the first behind-the-scenes Shazam! The Fury of the Gods sizzle clip. New video provides a closer look at the film’s major antagonists, portrayed by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, as well as newcomer Rachel Zegler, whose character is being kept under wraps for the time being. The scope has been increased since Billy Batson’s first expedition, yet the story remains based in Philadelphia.

It was also revealed that the sequel will fully immerse itself in DC mythology (as the title suggests), pitting Shazam and his team of heroes against chimeras, cyclopes, and other mystical monsters.

Live Action series to bring more to the universe…

Surprise! Pennyworth, maybe one of the most shocking disclosures of DC FanDome, has shown its worth on Epix enough to merit a second season; unfortunately, it will not be returning to Epix. Pennyworth will join its brother and sister DC programs as an HBO Max exclusive for its third season. The cast of the show was ecstatic to share the news, and fans should be as well! The streaming service’s library is expanding, and such exposure may provide this film with the attention it needs for growth.

Titans

Along with the news, HBO Max provided a first peek at the season three finale, which will air on Thursday, October 21. The Injustice setting has become one of DC Comics’ most popular Elseworlds, spawning two video games and several best-selling comic book series.

It is set in a world where the Joker caused an emotional breakdown in Superman, leading to the incorruptible champion becoming a fascist dictator in his bid to ensure that no one ever suffers at the hands of a supervillain again. The brief animation focuses on Superman’s search for the Joker and the sad event that leads to his collapse.

The Gotham Knights

“Beware the Court of Owls, which keeps vigil all the while…”

Gotham Knights had its DC FanDome premiere last year, but the 2022 game from Warner Bros. Games Montréal shivered the Hall of Heroes with a beautiful new video depicting the game’s chief antagonist—the Court of Owls. In addition, we heard from Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jim Lee, and Ann Lemay and Patrick Redding of WB Games Montréal on the unique difficulty and excitement of translating the clandestine Gotham organization—and its warriors, the Talons—to the world of console gaming.

A fresh in-depth look at Gotham Knights is now thanks to DC FanDome, giving gamers their first genuine impressions of gameplay and the larger plot. The Penguin plays an important part in the teaser, which may have surprised viewers. We can see how,
