After Satyameva Jayate, everybody had set their high hopes for the Satyameva Jayate 2 since the announcement of its sequel. And finally, after a lot of waits, the movie, Satyameva Jayate 2 is here. The most exciting part of the movie is the triple role of John Abraham. The movie is written and directed by Milap Zaveri and has tried to cash in on the nostalgia of 80s masala movies.

The movie is based on the fight against injustice and misuse of powers. This time, John Abraham can be seen with the stunning Divya Khosla Kumar along with Rajeev Pillai and Anup Soni as the main character. People have so many expectations from the movie, but is it actually worth it or not? Let’s find out!

REVIEW OF STYAMEVA JAYATE 2

The movie does not have any charm or a unique storyline. The movie script seems to be stale as it does not have any wow factor in it. Even at some point while watching the movie you will get desperate to find out the calmness as in the whole movie people can be most of the time heard shouting and screaming throughout the movie. The movie showcases the fight against injustice and misuse of power while serving us with some done-to-death scenes.

The lead actors of the movie seem to fulfill their pledge to root out all the corruption. The movie has everything that you can easily find in 80s movies, from doctors of a government sitting on a strike, kids dying due to lack of oxygen and food poisoning to a flyover collapsing, and a girl setting herself on fire after being raped by a sone of the politician.

The story of the movie, Satyameva Jayate 2 revolves around Dadasaheb Balram Azad, played by John Abraham, and the two of his sons, again played by John Abraham. One of them grows to become a home minister as Satya and the other is a sassy cop as ACP Jay. Divya Khosla Kumar, in the movie, can be seen in the role of the wife of Satya as Vidya. Also, Vidya is an opposition politician and Gautami Kapoor can be seen as the mother of twins.

Satya wants his anti-corruption bill to be passed. Divya is the only character in the movie that doesn’t appear to be loud with her dialogues, but she appears like she is just reading her dialogues simply without any expressions. Even her acting is just average. However, the supporting actors, Harsh, Chhaya, Anup Soni, and Sahil Vaid played their roles pretty well in whatever little they had to do.

The best and only good thing about Satyameva Jayate 2 is one and only John Abraham. But he also didn’t get enough opportunity to present himself at his best as he had to stick to the boundaries set by the tacky screenplay and redundant over the dramatic dialogues. The dialogues in the movie seem to be overdramatic and follow a rhyme which sometimes makes the audience lose the essence of the scene.

For example, there is a dialogue, “Tu Bhartiya naari hai…….thaan le to sab par bhaari hai” or “Signal par khada hawaladar sau rupaye me meherbaan hai…… Naam tmhara khan toh aatankvadi poora khandan hai….. wahan Apne hi Ghar Mein pankhe pe latak Raha Kisan hai….. lekin mera desh mahaan hai”. doesn’t they sound silly and does nothing only causes a headache?

The movie seems to go overboard with patriotism and ends up with jingoism. Every time when there is a splash of blood on the screen, a patriotic song gets played in the background and also there is a constant hammering on the fact that nation always comes before self.

Not just the corruption, Zaveri with his heavyweight lines and poetic dialogues has touched upon the issues of Lokpal bill, suicides of farmers, division of good Muslims and bad Muslims, rape cases of women and girls in India (Nirbhaya case and Telangana case), and also takes a jibe at social media taking over the precedence over the real matters. At some points, you can find that he is trying to improvise the movie and make it relevant, but after some time, they come back to their jingoistic seeds.

Satyameva Jayate 2 is a movie with raw action and has a good mix of songs, some of which are abruptly placed and some of them are not that bad. However, the movie is a brave attempt to bring the audience back to the theatres by making them believe that it is a perfect masala film which it is actually not. But if you are a person who loves watching action and enjoy the loud thriller, then do go for it.
