Fans have had their first glimpse at Michael Keaton’s Batman, and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in The Flash movie set photographs, which reveal more about their roles.
Fans of DC Comics have been clamoring for a solo The Flash movie for quite some time. Warner Bros. announced plans for Ezra Miller to play the Scarlet Speedster in 2014. He’s had the opportunity to play a part in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Justice League, but plans for a solo blockbuster have repeatedly shifted as changes to the project have occurred behind the scenes. It’s almost as if Barry Allen himself is always mucking with the timeline. But, at long last, it appears like the film is finally coming together.
More set images from The Flash movie have been posted online, offering fans a closer look at Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in the DCEU. The Flash, one of Warner Bros.’s upcoming blockbuster DC movies, has been through numerous hurdles since 2014.
The Flash movie finally occurs after years of development hell, with Ezra Miller reprising his role as Barry Allen. While largely modeled on Flashpoint, Barry’s actions will eventually result in the Multiverse, including Keaton’s Batman from the Tim Burton movie.
Keaton will not be the only one donning the cape and cowl, as Ben Affleck’s Batman will also play a role. The Flash, on the other hand, will include another prominent DC Comics figure who hasn’t been featured in a film since 1984: Supergirl. Calle was officially cast as the DCEU’s Supergirl in early 2021. The majority of story information for The Flash movie is being kept under wraps, as is the case with most superhero films these days.
While the set images and videos haven’t revealed everything that’s going on in particular sequences, they do provide glimpses of what’s going on in The Flash movie as a whole. Production is set to begin in the summer of 2021, with the first teasers arriving at DC FanDome in October 2021. If that happens, it will almost certainly offer context to what has been shown through set photographs of Batman and Supergirl.

Michael Keaton is Bruce Wayne
Officially, The Flash movie will place Keaton’s Batman nearly 30 years after the events of Batman Returns, implying that Joel Schumacher’s subsequent sequels will not be part of that chronology. Keaton was only seen in a few set photographs, but he gave fans a glimpse of Bruce Wayne in the present day. The hair and makeup staff were able to recreate Keaton’s classic hairstyle from Batman and Batman Returns. The most noticeable alteration is that Bruce’s hair is now grey/silver. Anyone who enjoys seeing Bruce makes it clearly obvious how wealthy he is; The Flash movie emphasizes this element.
Several pictures have been taken of a Mercedes Maybach 6, which is supposed to be Bruce’s pricey vehicle. Aside from Bruce’s vehicle, it appears like Keaton’s character is involved in whatever is going on in the courthouse.
In a set shot from The Flash movie, Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne vehicle is revealed. For the next DC Extended Universe picture, the actor will reprise his role from 1989’s Batman and its sequel, 1992’s Batman Returns.
The Flash movie shows a vehicle belonging to Bruce Wayne. The vehicle is a Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet concept car. Thus it is not for sale to the general public.
Although it isn’t a Batmobile, it is the type of premium, luxurious vehicle that Bruce Wayne might be spotted driving. It’s unknown how much the automobile will be featured in the film, and it might simply appear for a few seconds. It was just shot near where The Flash was filming the scene with Miller, Clemons, Calle, and Keaton, but production is still in progress. As a result, there may be more chances to watch not only this specific automobile in action but also other parts of Keaton’s character’s comeback.
While not completely confirmed, one photograph does show Miller and Keaton together, assuming it is indeed Bruce. Since Keaton’s announcement, there has been conjecture that his Batman may eventually replace Affleck’s DCEU version when The Flash movie is completed. It’s possible that all of these images were taken during the final act. If that’s the case, it would explain the quick shot of Barry and Bruce together, unless this is set on Earth-89.
A connection to the Watchmen
The sight of Michael Keaton’s bloodied Batman outfit in The Flash movie suggests that the DCEU is linked to Watchmen via the iconic smiling face emblem.
According to an Instagram post, The Flash movie will tie the DCEU to Michael Keaton’s Batman and Watchmen. Director Andy Muschietti released a teaser image for The Flash showing Keaton’s bloodied Batman costume on June 4, 2021. While the bright yellow Bat-insignia is easily recognized as (or similar to) the chest plate worn by Keaton in Tim Burton’s films, 1989’s Batman, and 1992’s Batman Returns, it also alluded to another well-known DC Comics symbol: the Watchmen smiling face.
In 2009, Watchmen was turned into a cinematic picture. However, it is currently doubtful that Watchmen will relate to the DCEU — but it should. Muschietti’s tweet for The Flash movie strongly suggests that his forthcoming film, which will deal with the DC Multiverse, might eventually incorporate Watchmen into the franchise – either by integrating its characters or linking to the story’s ideas. The bloodied happy face is the most iconic picture from Watchmen, and it has several parallels to the Instagram post. The emblem of the Bat is spherical and bright yellow. The blood is splashed across the left side of the body. The outward parallels are obvious; it’s the message that has to be deciphered.
Given how the smiling face is extended into a broad color scheme in Watchmen, it is reasonable to interpret the bloodied Batman picture as a connection to the classic graphic novel. Muschietti is most likely using the symbol to create the tone for The Flash. Keaton’s future Batman will be a more mature version of the character, similar to how Niteowl is presented in Watchmen. The dangers of nostalgia and heroes of the past are major themes in Watchmen. Both are pertinent to a 2022 DCEU film starring a prior generation’s version of Batman.
The blood represents violence, implying that the film will take a more mature approach to the subject matter. While it’s hard to know what the director’s goals were with the image, there is a lot of meaning extracted from the rich symbolism.
It’s also conceivable that The Flash movie may use the Multiverse to show that Watchmen exists on an alternative Earth within the DCEU. DC Comics tried a similar idea with the Doomsday Clock miniseries. Furthermore, the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths linked several previous DC Comics TV programs into a single shared Multiverse, and the crossover was warmly welcomed.
Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle
The Flash movie director Andy Muschietti provided the first glimpse at Calle’s House of El breast insignia before her Supergirl outfit was revealed in a slew of production images. While the design is heavily influenced by Zack Snyder’s aesthetic for Henry Cavill’s Superman, the actual outfit appears to be based on a specific comic incarnation.
Throughout the Flash set photographs and footage, Calle was hoisted into the air for wire-work, which was supposed to be for flying scenes. Although most of the Supergirl costume images did not show her sporting a cape, a few shots did indicate that the Girl of Steel will be wearing one. It is now normal practice for comic book films to VFX the cape after the main filming.
For the sake of convenience, whatever harness work Calle was performing had to be done without the real cape. The real Supergirl costume, on the other hand, appears to be inspired by the Injustice comics. Calle’s outfit is nearly identical to that of Lois and Superman’s almost-daughter, Lara Lane-Kent. Lois was murdered by the Joker while still pregnant with Lara, but Superman “meets” their daughter in a dream realm.
What’s fascinating about The Flash movie’s Supergirl is that when Calle was the first cast, she was never identified as Kara Zor-El, simply as “Supergirl.” While this does not definitely imply that Calle is not portraying Kara, the fact that she is wearing Lara’s clothing is fascinating.
Comparisons between Supergirl from The Flash and Lara Lane-Kent from Injustice may connect to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
The pictures of the Last Daughter of Krypton immediately attracted parallels to another version of Lara Lane-Kent’s character, which originally appeared in the comic book title Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Three.
While Warner Bros. and DC have yet to clarify whether this version of Supergirl is Kara Zor-El, Lara Lane-Kent, or another version of the character, some fans are already sure she is the DCEU’s interpretation of Lara. Of course, nothing is certain, but this Supergirl’s clothing and appearance aren’t the only things that may link her to that version of the character. In reality, the identification of the figure might be linked to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Although the figure only lived in a dream realm, she might serve as inspiration for the DCEU. Snyder initially intended for Superman and Lois to have a kid who would grow up to become the new Batman. Still, it’s always conceivable that Warner Bros. intended for Lois’ pregnancy to play a role in The Flash, although in a different way.
Since Zack Snyder’s Justice League concluded with Lois Lane pregnant, she might give birth to Lara Lane-Kent, who is destined to follow in her father’s footsteps. After all, that would explain why the figure wears the same House of El crest as Superman in the DCEU. And, given that The Flash will very certainly feature time travel in some form, perhaps the Scarlet Speedster will cross paths with Supergirl in the future, whether in the Injustice-like Knightmare world or in another version of the timeline.
The CW Flash might have a cameo.
According to a fresh report, Grant Gustin will reprise his role as The CW’s Scarlet Speedster in the next The Flash movie.
According to The Illuminerdi, Gustin will appear in The Flash movie from The CW series. However, the extent of this appearance is unknown. Gustin will also appear alongside Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s versions of Batman, as well as Sasha Calle’s version of Supergirl and Ezra Miller’s version of the eponymous superhero.
This isn’t the first time the DC Extended Universe and the Arrowverse have collided. The Flash above from the former reality, played by Ezra Miller, made a surprise appearance in the Arrowverse’s 2019 crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” when he encountered the Scarlet Speedster later. Marc Guggenheim, showrunner of “Crisis,” subsequently revealed how the appearance came about, saying he was “very pleased” Warner Bros. approved it.
There isn’t much known about The Flash right now. In addition to being inspired by the 2011 film “Flashpoint,” as well as cameos by the two Batmen and Supergirl, the film has seen the DCEU version of Barry Allen acquire a new outfit, which director Andy Muschetti recently teased.
Barry’s Flash Ring Appearance in the Flash Movie
Barry donning the Flash Ring is a startling revelation from The Flash set photographs. Miller is wearing a ring that appears to be much larger than normal-sized rings in one of the set images that have surfaced. If one zooms in close enough, the lightning bolt may be seen, implying that The Flash will reveal the ring that holds Flash’s updated outfit at some time. Given that Bruce would construct a new costume, it makes it logical for Barry to obtain his Flash Ring in this narrative. Barry’s new suit also appears to fit better inside a nano-tech-based ring than his earlier armored outfit.
Given that this is the first time Miller has been seen wearing the Flash Ring, it’s unclear whether Barry invented it or whether it was given to him by Bruce. The Arrowverse’s interpretation of Barry’s Flash Ring established that it was developed in Nora West-future Allen’s pre-Crisis on Infinite Earth’s reality by Ryan Choi. The DCEU equivalent may follow a similar path to The Flash season 5, with Keaton’s Batman developing it for Barry once he gets his new costume. If these images depict different aspects of The Flash’s finale, it makes sense for the ring to be there, as he won’t have it at first.

When Will The Flash Movie Be Released?
Warner Bros. has officially stated that The Flash movie will be released in theaters on November 4, 2022, barring any major delays. It’s one of seven live-action DC Comics adaptations that will be released between now and the end of 2022, sandwiched between the animated DC Super-Pets and Aquaman 2 starring Jason Momoa. Part of the reason it is so far away is that Ezra Miller has a contract to participate in the third Fantastic Beasts picture, which is set to begin production in October 2020 and will be released in November 2021.
